Exploring queerness in Hellcat!
Kate Leth talks to The Beat about her self-made beginnings and transition to licensed work, which led to her current series Spell on Wheels for Dark Horse.
Dark Horse has just announced a new five issue supernatural mini series, Spell on Wheels, by Kate Leth (Adventure Time: Seeing Red, Patsy Walker, a.k.a. Hellcat!) and Megan Levens (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10, Madame Frankenstein) with a cover by Ming Doyle (Girl Over Paris, Constantine: The Hellblazer). IT debuts in October but you […]
A new column by Marissa Louise is the best thing I’ve ever read about coloring comics.
It’s the All-New, All-Different Marvel Rundown, but is it really? Is it really our weekly column where we take a look at all the #1’s in the brand new Marvel Universe? Or is it just a Patsy Walker A.K.A. Hellcat! #1 review? The answer it seems is both, as the only #1 from Marvel is […]
So there’s good news and there’s bad news. Sex Criminals #12 has been delayed, now releasing on September 16th. Happily, however, the delay isn’t due to writer Matt Fraction ending up in a MPreg fantasy become reality or artist Chip Zdarsky deciding he’s more of a Hemingway than a Singer Sargent, but rather because of “high […]
If there’s such a thing as “a big micro press” Retrofit Comics might just apply. With a monthly schedule of small, attractive books by the premiere cartoonists working, they’ve put out some of the most notable comics of the past few years, including Wicked Chicken Queen by Sam Alden, Tom Hart’s Daddy Lightning, and Flocks by L. Nichols.

There was a time not too long ago when you could fit all the “women in comics” at a big table in a coffee shop. Now there re more than 300 women who just work in comics shops. That’s the membership of The Valkyries, a private organization for female comics retail employees. and it turns out the group has been instrumental in promoting a coupld of books that have had great success this year, namely Saga and Lumberjanes. Janelle Asselin interviews group founder Kate Leth for all the details:
Smut Peddler, the lady-led erotic anthology edited by Johanna Draper Carlson and C. Spike Trotman, will be returning in 2014 for a new volume. And to set up for that launch, an open call for submissions from women and female/male creative teams has been put out. The anthology will feature probably quite filthy work from […]
First off, Kate Leth is a fan of The Spice Girls, so immediately you should be ready to welcome her into your world with open arms. Secondly, her webcomic series Kate or Die! is a fantastical piece of work, with each strip offering something new, but all drawn in her bouncy, glamorous style. Each new […]
