The dust hasn’t even settled yet on X of Swords, the massive 22-part crossover of all of Marvel’s mutant-centric titles that wraps up today, and Marvel is already teasing what’s next for the merry mutants. The publisher has released a teaser image and information for Reign of X, the umbrella name for the upcoming slate of stories for the X-line, which includes X-MenX-FactorX-ForceNew MutantsExcaliburMaraudersHellionsWolverine, and the forthcoming S.W.O.R.D. series.

Here’s the teaser, by artist Mahmud Asrar (Marvel did not credit a colorist, but it’s likely Sunny Gho, as he’s been coloring Asrar’s X-work of late).

For the past few months Marvel’s solicitations have included vague language for all of the X-titles set for release following X of Swords. With the event now over, more details have been released on what’s in store for each series next month, including the first issue of new series S.W.O.R.D. by Al Ewing & Valerio Schiti, and new writer Vita Ayala‘s debut as new ongoing writer for New Mutants:

HELLIONS #7 by writer Zeb Wells and artist Stephen Segovia will explore the aftermath of the team’s brutal massacre in X of Swords.

Writer Leah Williams and artist David Baldeon continue to investigate mutant deaths and explore the complexities that come with resurrection in X-FACTOR #5.

Kate Pryde and Emma Frost finally enact their long-awaited revenge on Sebastian Shaw in MARAUDERS #16 by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Stefano Caselli.

Mutantkind sets their sights on the galaxy and beyond in writer Al Ewing and artist Valerie Schiti’s groundbreaking S.W.O.R.D. #1.

An old foe rises in NEW MUTANTS #14, the beginning of a wild new era for your favorite young mutants by writer Vita Ayala and artist Rod Reis.

Wolverine reunites with Maverick and Team X in WOLVERINE #8, a special over-sized milestone issue written by Benjamin Percy with art by Adam Kubert and Viktor Bogdanovic.

The search for Captain Britain is underway as Excalibur returns to Otherworld in EXCALIBUR #16 by writer Tini Howard and artist Marcus To.

X-Force will stop at nothing to protect Krakoa, even if it means interrogating their own, in the action-packed X-FORCE #15 by writer Benjamin Percy and Marvel’s Stormbreaker artist Joshua Cassara.

And Cyclops makes a fateful decision regarding the future of the X-Men in X-MEN #16, written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Phil Noto.

Unsurprisingly, the most direct follow-up looks to come in the pages of Excalibur and X-Men, titles written by X of Swords architects Tini Howard and Jonathan Hickman, respectively. Zeb Wells Stephen Segovia‘s Hellions looks like it will also directly follow that series’ XoS tie-ins, though those two issues (which, to be clear, were fantastic) had relatively little to do with the actual event and more to do with the typical Mr. Sinister Shenanigans.

Perhaps of most note for Reign of X is a new creator who appears to be joining the fray. Prior to its release by Marvel, writer Si Spurrier shared the teaser image on Twitter:

It’s unknown at this point what book Spurrier may be working on for the X-line, though Twitter speculation points to the long-teased X-Corps series.
