Pilot season is upon us in Hollywood, and Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt's acclaimed THE SIXTH GUN has gotten a pilot order at NBC with Carlton Cuse (Lost) on board to produce.

With 2013 barreling along, it's time to start looking at some of books that are going to make it a notable year, and here's one that has flown mostly under the radar until now: Who is AC? by Hope Larson with art by Tintin Pantoja, to be published by Atheneum on April 16th. It's Larson's first original GN since Mercury, she she describes it thusly:

A few months ago Dark Horse announced they were publishing The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia an authorized art book of the storied video game franchise. Such was the excitement for this book that it knocked off Shades of grey from the Amazon best seller list for a while week, and money from The Beat's Amazon affiliate link paid for all our Christmas presents.

Today sees the release of Demon Knights #20 from DC, written by Robert Venditti and drawn by Bernard Chang. And Chang is so excited...

Every couple of years, Scholastic, the biggest played in the kids book arena, releases a study on how kids read called The Kids and Family Reading Report. Jim Milliot sums up this year's findings, which largely centered on kids and ebooks:

Following almost as much life-or-death drama behind the scenes as in the zombie-haunted woods of Georgia, The Walking Dead has named a new show runner, Scott Gimple, who takes over with season four from Glen Mazzara, who departed under strained circumstance sat the end of last month. Gimple served as Mazarra's #2 guy for most of the last season, so he's already been in the mix.

Well it looks like Disney isn't just sitting around and counting their womp rat scores now that they own the STAR WARS franchise. We all know that a third trilogy is on the way, but Disney is also developing new movies OUTSIDE THE TRILOGY space, including a Zack Snyder film.

We didn't watch last night's hilarious "Women go to a comics shop" episode of Big Bang Theory, but Scott Johnson did so we wouldn't have to and the results sound quite ghastly:

In a brief, statement, publisher F+W announced the closing of CBG, the Comics Buyer's Guide today. The magazine's 42 year run will end with issue #1699, one shy of the farewell #1700 that the collectors it appealed to would have liked. The cause of death was the usual suspects:

Adventure Time comics have been a huge hit for Boom Studios, with variant covers by a who's who of indie ad animation stars as eagerly sought after as the latest Alex Roos variant. And the franchise has shown enough legs to warrant a stand alone original graphic novel by Danielle Corsetto and Zack Sterling. The cover is by Stephanie Gonzaga.
