It's been the super secret plan of the Marvel staff for more than five years. It's been a glimmer in Jonathan Hickman's eye for even longer. But now, Marvel is joining the "big battle changes fictional universe forever*" trend with Secret Wars, which launches in May leaving carnage in its wake. As announced at a press conference with Executive Editor Tom Brevoort and E-i-C Axel Alonso at Midtown Comics downtown location, as part of the eight issue Secret Wars event Secret Wars #1 and Secret Wars #2 by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic, the Ultimate universe is folding into the 616 Marvel universe and "There will be only Battleworld," promised Tom Brevoort. Issue #2 will be a huge extra sized reference staking out the new world, which ties in to the teasers marvel released last fall. Marvel: Heed the cry—we need a new swimsuit special

2
As mentioned earlier, I've been on a deadline and haven't had time to jump all over breaking industry news, but that worked out just fine in the case of the disappearing Marvel Swimsuit Issue update. It seems artists Kris Anka and Kevin Wada posted some images of what would be a NEW Marvel Swimsuit issue, updating the strangest comic of the 90s with a much needed new look at lycra and tencel. The initial pin-ups of some lissome lads were tasty, but the women had not even been drawn when the project had been KILLED. KILLED DEAD, taking with it the hopes and dreams of a thirsty nation.

Review: time, tide and Agent Carter wait for no man

If Marvel was hoping Agent Carter would improve on its ratings from last week’s 2-episode season premiere, they must be somewhat disappointed this morning. While Agent Carter still snagged second place behind NBC’s Parks and Recreation, it’s ratings are still down 21 percent from last week. Marvel should be interested in more than just ratings, as the show has received considerable critical acclaim.

Advance Review: Star Wars Done Right

3
Star Wars returns to Marvel, and nearly every other ancillary, non-movie-adventure of Luke Skywalker & Co. has been wiped out of continuity. Back in December we knew that Star Wars #1 would be, almost certainly, the biggest-selling issue of the year with 1 million copies ordered by comics retailers and other outlets. The first issue hits stores this week, with launch parties, dozens of variant covers, and a major media push. But what about what’s actually on the page? To put it simply: this feels like Star Wars.
