Even though we’re all at home avoiding each other like the literal plague (you’re still social distancing, right?), it wouldn’t be Comic-Con without some movie news, and thankfully Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan are here to deliver. Orion Pictures has released a new trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, the long-awaited third installment in the saga of Bill & Ted. The film, which stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves reprising their roles as the titular duo, also adds Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine to the action as their respective daughters, Thea and Billie. The new trailer gives fans a better idea of what to expect from the two as they embark on their own excellent adventure to try and help their wayward fathers.

I have a confession to make. When I wrote about the first teaser trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, I made it sound like I’d never heard of it before. Of course I’ve heard of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and of course I’ve heard of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, and all the numerous comics and cartoons that have spun out of those. My confession is: I’ve never seen any of them. I may have seen Excellent Adventure in bits and pieces here and there, but I’ve never sat down to watch it all the way through. I know. I know. I’m going to rectify that before the new movie comes out, because it looks like a lot of fun.

Check out the trailer above, and the new poster and some still images from the film below. And on the subject of Comic-Con, you can check out the Bill & Ted Face the Music panel, moderated by Kevin Smith and featuring Reeves, Winter, Weaving, Lundy-Paine, William Sadler, director Dean Parisot, and screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, on Saturday at 3 PM Pacific.

Bill & Ted Face the Music will be available to watch in operating theaters and at-home on demand on September 1st, 2020.

The stakes are higher than ever for the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan.  Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends – to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.
