Welcome to The Beat’s Crowdfunding Round-Up: a collection of some of our favorite comics crowdfunding campaigns from the week including one-shots, ongoings, anthologies and everything in-between. Your regular Round-Up ringleader, Josh Hilgenberg, is on vacation, so instead you’ve got me, Joltin’ Joe Grunenwald, filling in for him with a look at the projects that caught my eye this week.

Let’s get started!

The Catch: Trade Paperback Edition

Rufus Marigold

Creators: Ross Murray (cartoonist), Honest Publishing
Goal: £6,000 ($8,268)
End Date: July 15th, 2021
Goodies: £5 (~$7) gets you the digital Rufus Marigold collection, while £13 (~17) plus shipping brings home the print edition. Additional tiers include bookmarks, prints, and even a zoom chat with creator Ross Murray.

A heartfelt, relatable, and darkly hilarious tale of a nervous primate tackling life with social anxiety.

I know Josh already covered this one a couple of weeks ago, but it looks too good to not shout out again as it nears the end of its campaign having not yet reached its goal. A 200-page collection of the serialized webcomic of the same name that launched in 2016, Rufus Marigold follows an anthropomorphic ape who suffers from severe anxiety. Rufus works an office job, suffers through small talk, and tries to make time for art of his own, all while navigating his own insecurities and self-doubt.

A curse has befallen the small town of Hesby and mummies are attacking seemingly at random.

If you, like me, believe that mummies are due for a big, zombie-esque resurgence any day now, this book sounds like the one for you. The horror-comedy series follows Megan and Rosa, a pair of women in their twenties, who take it upon themselves to get to the bottom of what’s causing the “mummy apocalypse” so they can stop it once and for all.
