BLOODSHOT, the film based on the Valiant Universe’s flagship characters, has been kicking around for a while, with much of the DMG-owned company’s fate resting on breaking into the Hollywood bandwagon.

A version of Bloodshot played by Jason David Frank has been floating around out there  as part of a webisode series based on Ninjak. But the character demanded the big screen treatment. So when it was rumored Vin Diesel was taking on the role, all seemed well. But would it really happen?

Well, according to Diesel’s ‘Gram feed, the film is actually under way! Hallelujah!

Diesel appears enthusiastic if a bit sleepy after a 4:45 am wake up call in a location known as “Africa”. Also no signs of how his Bloodshot physique is coming along, but an earlier post suggested things are looking good:

Plus Diesel is a pro, and we can expect him to put his all into this film.

What else do we know about the BLOODSHOT movie? Well, Dave Wilson, the fellow in the ski cap, is the director. Lamorne Morris (NEW GIRL) has joined the cast as scientist Wilfred Wigans, a Bloodshot buddy.

We also know that Guy Pearce is in talks to replace Michael Sheehan, who had to bow out due to a scheduling conflict. Pearce will play Dr. Emil Harting, the science man who created the nanotechnology that creates Bloodshot. Pearce is a sturdy choice for superhero movies, so good job there.

Toby Kebbell, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, and Alex Hernandez have also been cast, and FAST AND THE FURIOUS producer Dan Mintz is exec producing the film. The script is by respected Oscar nominee Eric Heisserer, so fingers crossed.

So, ya know, it is HAPPENING. NOT a hoax, not a dream! A Bloodshot movie will be opening in 2020. And Sony, one of the last studios standing, is still counting on it to form the basis of a five picture shared filmed universe, based on the Valiant comics.

  1. I wonder which version of Bloodshot this is going to be? The Shooter one or the latest one? The latest one if kind of an interesting meta-commentary on modern victim culture, since his primary power is getting his butt kicked and surviving, but it’s also got way, way, WAAAAAAAY too much back story.
