The Beat website may have been out of commission for the last few days, but we’re back up and running. Released earlier this morning, it’s pretty safe to assume by now you’ve already seen the first Hawkeye trailer for the much hyped Disney+ original series.
Clint Barton, the civilian name of the titular archer, is once again played by Jeremy Renner. Fans were wondering the circumstances that would take Clint all the way to the Big Apple away from retirement with his family on the farm. The Hawkeye trailer provides some answers as we can see Clint spending the Christmas holiday with his kids (Cooper, Lila, and Nathaniel) in the Big Apple most notably seeing a Hamilton inspired musical of Steve Rogers.
However, it seems his past actions as the vigilante Ronin during the infamoous “Blip” as seen in Avengers: Endgame catch up to him as self-proclaimed “World’s Greatest Archer” and #1 Hawkeye fan Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) has taken up the Ronin mantle and bringing some unwanted attention to Clint.
As most comic fans were anticipating, the show clearly takes its cues from the acclaimed Hawkeye comic run from writer Matt Fraction and his various artistic collaborators including notably David Aja. The “Tracksuit Draculas,” Clint’s affectionate nickname for the group of mobsters he encounters, are hard to miss.
Moreover, Clint’s loyal canine Pizza Dog Lucky can also be glimpsed in the Hawkeye trailer wearing some holiday apparel. And just like the comics, Lucky is missing his left eye due to an injury suffered at the hands of the aforementioned Tracksuit Draculas.
We also see Kate’s mother, Eleanor Bishop, played by Vera Farmiga. In addition to the trailer a teaser poster for the series was also unveiled.
Between the Hawkeye Disney+ series and the Spider-Man: No Way Home film in December, it truly is no better time to be a Marvel fan this holiday season!
Hawkeye premieres on Wednesday, November 24th on Disney+.
Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway, unwrapping a brand-new teaser trailer and poster today for “Hawkeye,” a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, “Hawkeye” also features Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie.
