If you spend as much time on the internet as I do, you probably heard and saw the news yesterday that after months of silence Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer was leaked. The ensuing consequences around that reveal warrant a whole other article, but some 24 hours later and Sony has revealed its first look at No Way Home during its CinemaCon panel, and boy, is it a doozy.

After much speculation, including cast members revealing their reprisals, the trailer does not disappoint. No Way Home picks up after the events of Far From Home which sees Peter’s (Tom Holland) identity revealed by J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons), who also accuses the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man of killing Mysterio. At the time of Far From Home‘s release, speculation about where the third film in the Spider-Man story would go was rife.

But, now that we’re four months away from release and living in a post-Loki world, things have changed. As the trailer reveals, the multiverse is now open and, as Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) puts it, “is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.” Peter, struggling with the revelation of his identity, goes to Strange to erase the world’s knowledge about him. Wong (Benedict Wong) rightly tells Strange not to mess with it, but of course, that’s not what happens.

What follows will surely be broken down frame by frame soon, but some notable snippets we see include the Green Goblin’s (Willem Dafoe) pumpkin bomb accompanied by his sinister chuckle and Alfred Molina‘s return as Doc Ock. Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans weren’t spotted in the trailer but eagle-eyed fans spotted Electro, Sandman, and Lizard, respectively, in the trailer as well. Missing are previous Spider-Mens Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield (leaked photos reveal both Garfield and Holland in the same scene both in their suits). But what other bombs await us in No Way Home? Will we see Loki or Sylvie? Will we see Wanda? I’ll tell you I’m personally happy to see Arian Moayed, but maybe that’s just the Succession fan in me.
