Amidst a packed room at the Empire Stage at New York Comic Comic on Thursday night, Marvel Television and Animation gave fans a glimpse of future Disney+ projects at their “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation” panel. For Marvel Animation, continuing projects like X-Men ‘97 and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man have kept people excited with strong critical reception and a depth that has caught people off guard. On the Marvel Television side, developments such as the reversal of a second season of Wonder Man and the announcement of the final season of Daredevil: Born Again have raised questions among those invested in the TV extension of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+.

Luckily, Brad Winderbaum (Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise) was on hand, along with moderator Brandon Davis, to shine a light on what’s up next! Here’s a rundown of what was shown to attendees:

Marvel Television

VisionQuest

VisionQuest will be here in less than a week, but that didn’t stop Marvel Television from generating some last-minute hype for the show. Show creator Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard) and stars Paul Bettany (Vision), James Spader (Ultron), Ruaridh Mollica (Tommy Maximoff), and Emily Hampshire (E.D.I.T.H.) were all on hand to debut an exclusive trailer for the show.

That wasn’t all, as fans were also surprised with the first episode. Judging from the first look, VisionQuest promises to be a heady sci-fi examination of humanity as Vision seeks to understand himself. It very much has a unique aesthetic that feels like it fits in with WandaVision and Agatha All Along – I know I’m excited to see more!

You’ll be able to check out VisionQuest on Disney+ next week with its two-episode premiere on October 14.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3

After three seasons on Netflix, Matt Murdock and friends will also be ending their series count similarly on Disney+ early next year. With a third final season, the series promises a rewarding storyline for those who have been a fan of the street-level hero side of the MCU since 2015.

If you’ve kept your ear to the ground, you may have known that this season was going to be a giant-sized Defenders reunion with Finn Jones (Danny Rand) joining Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage), who both guest starred/made cameos last season. Ritter and Jones made an appearance at the panel alongside Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock). Colter was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict, but fans should be excited to know he’ll be in the mix too.

Those in the audience got an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming season. The trailer featured teases of a Defenders reunion, but also fallout from last season with Matt Murdock in prison. The stylish action fans have come to expect from the series will be present in the next season, as a clip was shown of Matt fighting prisoners in a makeshift Daredevil outfit made out of prison garb.

Here’s hoping the next time we see these Defenders characters on screen will be in future MCU movie installments!

Surprises from Marvel Television

  • Zodiac – Winderbaum was pretty tightlipped about this one only confirming its logo, that it’s a spy thriller, and that it would be shooting in London in the spring with a 2028 release date on Disney+. For fans of the Marvel Comics Winderbaum said “There’s a lot hidden in the logo.”

Marvel Animation

X-men ‘97

After two seasons, X-Men ’97 continues to be a satisfying love letter to Marvel’s Mutants. The show’s successful mix of 90s nostalgia, poignant social commentary, big drama, and smart modernization looks like it will continue this upcoming season.

Audiences were able to get an x-clusive look at Season 3 with clips of the Brotherhood of Mutants seemingly being led by Mystique and a tease of a wedding between Rogue and Gambit.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

The upcoming season of Marvel Animation’s smart and compelling Spider-Man series Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man also got a tease at the event. The series, which is showrun by Jeff Trammell, is a successful celebration of multiple eras of the wall-crawler across mediums while weaving its own web of new original stories. Last season mixed usual Spider-Man characters like Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone with off-beat Marvel Comic characters like Nico Minoru of The Runaways.

Trammell was at the panel and announced when fans could expect Season 2—January 13, 2027. He also debuted a clip that teased returning characters like Harry Osborn, Nico, and Otto Octavius, who is now in full Doctor Octopus mode, as well as a new plot with the black symbiote.

Marvel Zombies

Just in time for October’s spooky season, Winderbaum shared that we’ll be getting a lot more Marvel Zombie-goodness with specials dated for 2027 (Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier), 2028 (Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Konshu), and 2029 (Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian).

Stay tuned to The Beat for more news from NYCC ‘26.
