Bill Finger

We recently noted that writer Marc Tyler Nobleman was on the hunt for a video of a particular panel from WonderCon about Bill Finger. He writes to tell us that he has a Finger-related event coming up in NYC on February 9th:

As you know, 9/18 was the day DC Comics announced that (after 76 years in the shadows) original writer Bill Finger will now be officially credited on all Batman stories. Soon after, the NEW credit line began appearing. This was a direct result of my book Bill the Boy Wonder: The Secret Co-Creator of Batman. Nine years of effort paid off…and hearing what I uncovered as I researched the book regularly brings people to tears.

The event

  • Tuesday 2/9/16 (please no blizzard)
  • 7 p.m.
  • 92nd Street Y, Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street
  • to order tickets

Finger was the “ghost”writer for Batman who created much of the mythology we associate with th Caped Crusader while “creator” Bob Kane got all the credit. In recent year’s Finger has been getting a lot more attention for his work, culminating in the changes to the Batman credits that DC announced. Nobleman’s work on behalf of Finger has already got people standing up and cheering:

“You did it! You got justice for Bill Finger and righted a lifetime wrong! You are Batman for Bill!”
Kevin Smith, filmmaker/writer and
Fat Man on Batman podcaster

“They will write folk songs about you for this.”

—Brad Ricca, author, Super Boys

“Wow—incredible! An inspiration—absolutely gripping story everyone should hear.”
—attendee, Charlotte S. Huck Children’s Literature Festival, CA

“Your presentation had us in tears—so compelling and poignant. We were in awe of the end result of all of your efforts—very inspirational.”

—Cathey Frei, co-chair, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Mid-Atlantic Conference

Comics history buffs should enjoy this talk greatly.
