Next month, Humanoids will release The Incal: Dying Star. The graphic novel is another new entry from the publisher in the world of Alejandro Jodorowosky & Moebius‘s iconic sci-fi universe. The book comes from the creative team of writer Dan Watters, artist Jon Davis-Hunt, and letterer Troy Peteri, and follows the story of a mutant military commander who embarks on a revenge mission. Today The Beat is pleased to present a preview of the new graphic novel.

Here’s how Humanoids describes The Incal: Dying Star:

Things are not going well for Commander Kaimann. Luz, the love of his life, is dead, his home of Tortuga destroyed, his crew ghostly apparitions, and his crocodilian mutation taking over more and more of his body, Commander Kaimann is fighting for his life on multiple fronts. Just when it seems like despair may overtake him, a chance encounter with a strange violin connects him to Aurora, a woman living in a future where she is staring down almost certain destruction.

With his passions renewed, Kaimann hatches a bold plan to find a cure for his mutation and a future with his newfound love. However, Kaimann’s past is catching up with him, and Aurora’s future faces imminent doom from an approaching hostile fleet. Two timelines tick towards tragedy, and only an act of pure love can save them!

Dying Star is the latest new entry in an initial trio of new Incal Universe stories from Humanoids. The publisher has previously released The Incal: Psychoverse from writer Mark Russell and artist Yanick Paquette, while the third entry in the series, The Incal: Kill Wolfhead by writer Brandon Thomas and artist Pete Woods, is due out in September of this year.
