Drawing the Line: Girls in Graphic Novels

You may have already heard about this event at the Charles M. Schulz museum if you’ve been keeping up with The Beat! An all-star lineup of cartoonists are taking part in a Zoom panel on creating graphic novels that speak to and empower the girls who read them.

The event will include Gale Galligan, Michelle Mee Nutter, Molly Knox Ostertag, Maria Scrivan, and Shannon Wright – but while the event is free, you have to register by midnight tonight, February 24th!

Deadpool’s Nerdy Thirty

On Thursday, February 25th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time, Marvel Comics is holding an event celebrating Deadpool’s “Nerdy Thirty.” In order to attend, you’ll either need to be a current Marvel Unlimited Annual Plus member, or if you’d like to attend without a subscription, you can shell out $20 for a non-refundable ticket – and either way, you want to register in advance to reserve your spot.

However, the event does promise to be quite the spectacle, given that some of Wade Wilson’s most notorious creators will be in attendance: Gerry Duggan, Mike Hawthorne, Joe Kelly, Rob Liefeld, Ed McGuinness, Fabian Nicieza, Brian Posehn, Gail Simone, and Daniel Way.

Squirrel Girl Goes to College Performance

This one’s technically multiple events! On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you can attend an online performance of Squirrel Girl Goes to College: A Squirrel Girl Play by Karen Zacarías.

You might have caught a glimpse of this play on Marvel’s 616, but now you see the volunteers at the Upstart Arts non-profit theater collective perform it live. While you can donate up to $10 per ticket, no donation is necessary to attend if your pockets are filled with nothing but peanuts.

Will you be attending one of these online events? Let The Beat know!
