In 2 weeks, the first book under the Millarworld/Netflix deal The Magic Order arrives in comic stores. It’s been nearly a year since Netflix officially announced the acquisition of creator Mark Millar’s Millarworld comic line and its new venture into the realm of comics after becoming a dominant force in the streaming landscape.

Illustrated by Olivier Coipel, The Magic Order is described as an “R-rated adult fantasy” in line with The Sopranos than say The Lord of the Rings according to Millar.

Akin to the promotion of one of its original series, Netflix has released a motion comic style trailer for the series.

With Millar warning retailers not to expect any reprints, it will be interesting to see how the reaction both with readers and retailers once The Magic Order hits stores June 13.

We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster, and The Magic Order is the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in THE MAGIC ORDER, as five families of magicians—sworn to protect our world for generations—must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day, they live among us as our neighbors, friends, and co-workers, but by night, they are the sorcerers, magicians, and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first. MARK MILLAR’s first NETFLIX comic book, drawn by the incredible OLIVIER COIPEL (Amazing Spider-Man, Thor).
