Marvel has unveiled a slate of themed variant covers for a handful of their January-shipping titles. The new variants feature alternate versions of today’s heroes as they appear in the forthcoming Marvels X series by Alex RossJim Krueger, and Well-Bee. The series is a sequel to Ross and Krueger’s previous alternate universe Marvel series, Earth-X, Universe-X, and Paradise-X, a trio of 14-issue series which ran from 1999 through 2003.

Here’s a look at each of the revealed covers, along with their Diamond item codes:

These are fine covers, and they present iconic portraits for the characters. I particularly enjoy the Captain Marvel cover for the way it evokes both Jim Starlin and Ross, and the Venom cover is also quite striking.

All of these covers appear to be open-to-order, so you should have no trouble pre-ordering them from your local comic shop. No word yet on which other January-shipping Marvel books will sport similar Marvels X variants, but we’ll be sure to share them if and when they’re revealed.

  1. Earth X started off very strong, but by the time Paradise X came along Marvel was going to cancel the mini because of low sales. Why would they bring this back?
