Cartoonist Jenna Ayoub (Adventure Time) is releasing a new original graphic novel through BOOM! Studios imprint KaBOOM! this November. The book, entitled Forever Home, explores increasingly popular themes for the publisher: ghosts and the living’s place among them.

Forever Home follows Willow, a kid with a nomadic childhood thanks to her parents both being in the military. All she wants to do is stay put and find a place she can really call home, but when her family moves into the historic Hadleigh House, Willow meets some unexpected residents that complicate things.

The ghosts of Hadleigh House have spent decades scaring off would-be homebuyers, and they don’t seem inclined to give up their residence anytime soon. Of course, Willow isn’t going to let them force her and her parents into moving yet again. She begins to gain the ghosts’ respect through her strong will to stay at Hadleigh House no matter what, and eventually they work out a sense of belonging and coexistence for everyone. thEN, Willow just has to convince her parents that this is the place for them.

Forever Home has been a very fun, and very personal project for me. It has given me the chance to pay homage to the spirits that I love—many of whom are actually still alive and hopefully will appreciate the little parts that they contributed to this story,” said Ayoub in a statement. “I’m very excited to bring this adventure to life, and hope that it will bring readers as much joy as it has brought me.”

Also in a statement, BOOM! Studios VP of Editorial and Creative Strategy Bryce Carlson said, “I’ve been excited about this book since the pitch first came in, and now having the chance to work with Jenna and watch her bring Willow and the charming, funny, and heartfelt world of Forever Home to life is an absolute joy. Jenna is an incredible talent whose debut graphic novel weaves a heartwarming tale about a young girl who finally finds a place she can call home and the lengths she’ll go to protect the place—and those living and unliving inside—that she loves.”

Forever Home hits shelves in November 2020. For more information, visit boom-studios.com.
