The Beat is bringing you an insider look at a new fantasy-adventure series with this Cutting Edge preview from Statix Press. The Titan Comics imprint is dedicated to bringing the best of the European comics scene to English-Language readers. Check out day one and day two , and day three.

Happy American Presidents’ day!  If you’re in the states and looking for something to do today, we’ve got you covered with the next installment of our exclusive look inside the pages of Cutting Edge from Statix Press. If you’re not in the states, we invite you to goof off at work and check out the next cover and character we’re introducing you to from the main cast of the series from Italian fantasist Francesco Dimitri and Marvel/DC artist Mario Alberti. From Statix:

Think of Leonardo da Vinci. Think of Shakespeare. They are on the threshold between history and myth: some of them are real, some are fictional, they are all outstanding. They are the cutting edge of humanity. In every age there are people that push human boundaries to their utmost limits. They are scientist, athletes, lovers, artists, conmen. What happens when these individuals are teamed up together? A financial enterprise, the Leviathan Corporation, challenges a number of geniuses from around the world. There will be a massive, secret competition, with real dangers. Only the Cutting Edge can participate and only the winner will find out why the competition exists.

The potential winners of the mysterious contest we’ve met so far are Hiroshi Itou, a genius mathematician, respected academic, and Nobel Prize-winner. Then there was Delroy, a secretive , seductive, and deadly professional skilled in the art of combat. Last Friday we met the lovely Stella Orsini Del Giglio, the last heiress to a family wealthier than many countries. In today’s Cutting Edge preview, we’ll meet the other woman participating in the contest: Jirakee Walker.

From Statix:

Another unsuspecting member of the group, Jirakee is the youngest and brightest personality. At just 24 years old, her exceptional talent has earned her 3 Pulitzer prizes for Best Photography, with 18 covers for National Geographic. While her contribution may be less obvious, her positivity and eagerness to complete any challenge is integral to motivating the team, and she may just hold the key to unlocking exactly what is going on…

Here’s the next cover reveal for Cutting Edge, this time from artist Marco Turini.

Editor’s note: we went to press with the above version of Marco Turini’s cover. Since that time, Statix updated us with a finished version of that cover. You can see it here. The earlier version of this piece included a misspelling of Marco Turini’s name that has since been corrected.

We’ll continue our day-by-day reveal of the covers and interior character pages in our Cutting Edge preview tomorrow,  meet the final player in the Leviathan Corporation’s strange contest, and reveal the final exclusive series cover. We’ll wrap our look inside the series when we exclusively premiere the trailer for Cutting Edge on Wednesday, February 19.
