Comics are hiring! At least in the sales departments. IDW has announced Joel Elad has been hired as their Direct Market Sales Manager to work drectly with comics shops and manage their retailer variants programs. Elad was formerly at his own NewComix.Com, and Top Cow.

Dynamite is staffing up! They recently hired Alan Payne and had just added Patrick O'Connell as sales manager; and I hear a few more hires re on the way, many of them the result of DC's west coast move freeing up a lot of talented people.

Over the years I have been asked any a time, "is there a good indie publicist for comics?" and I always racked my brain. There have been a few good people, but they usually get hired by companies. Indie PR is a tough business and comics are a niche. But now, Superfan Promotions has become to go-to company. It's run by David Hyde, formerly of DC, and it's the best in the biz.
