The great comic book job shuffle continues as Henry Barajas has joined Oni-Lion Forge as Sales Manager. Barajas was formerly the director of operations at Top Cow.

The news was first reported by Publishers Weekly.

As well as being an experienced crowdfunder and marketer, Barajas is an esteemed creator as well: his graphic memoir La Voz de M.A.Y.O.: Tata Rambo (art by J. Gonzo), tells the story of his grandfather, indigenous community organizer Ramon Jaurique. He also recently crowdfunded the Latinx sword and sorcery fantasy Helm Greycastle, with art by Rahmat Handoko and Bryan Valenza. Both books are published by Image Comics.

Asked about the move, Henry Barajas exclusively told the Beat “My love for the medium has afforded me to work in the business. I know that the comics business is a hard place to break and stay in. I’m grateful that so many people have had my back—and I get to narrow my focus and give back to what got me here in the first place: comic book shops.”

Oni Press senior vp of sales and marketing Alex Segura was equally enthusiastic, telling PW that “Bringing in someone like Henry to oversee our relationships with comic shops, Diamond, and our digital partners makes an all-star group even better.”

Indeed, Segura is a recent hire by Oni himself, and bringing on Barajas definitely shores up their sales team — so it looks like some ramping up is happening there.

In the spirit of full disclosure, Barajas is also a former Beat contributor, and we’re still big fans of his. So congrats to all for another great hire!
