Over the years I have been asked any a time, “is there a good indie publicist for comics?” and I always racked my brain. There have been a few good people, but they usually get hired by companies. Indie PR is a tough business and comics are a niche. But now, Superfan Promotions has become to go-to company. It’s run by David Hyde, formerly of DC, and it’s the best in the biz. And they are so good, they are pending, hiring Pamela Horvath (above left) Ilana Turner as director of publicity and publicity coordinator respectively.

Horvath brings more than 15 years of book publishing experience to her new position at Superfan Promotions. Formerly a publicist at Pantheon and Alfred A. Knopf, she was most recently publicity manager at DC Entertainment (where she worked with Superfan Promotions founder David Hyde) where she worked with such acclaimed comics creators as Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison, Amanda Conner and Sarah Glidden.

Turner worked with Superfan Promotions in support of a variety successful Kickstarter campaigns, including Janelle Asselin’s Fresh Romance campaign. Turner also leads the Superfan publicity campaigns for three of Z2 Comics series. Turner was previously a freelance writer.

M=Like many, I got to know Horvath during her DC comics stint, and she’s one of the nicest people in the biz. I’m been working with Turner a bit as well and she’s a fine hire.

I know Superfan does not come cheap, but if you have tin your budget they are great at what they do, and adding Turner and Horvath means they are going to do more and more.
