31 Days of Halloween: Madame Frankenstein
The Bride of Frankenstein is one of the enduring archetypes of horror. Invented by James Whale in the immortal film The Bride of Frankenstein, and played with hissing horror by Elsa Lanchester, she symbolizes the essential isolation of the Modern Prometheus—even with a mate specially created for him, the Creature receives nothing but rejection.
Write Jamie Rich and artist Megan Levens have reinvented the character in Madame Frankenstein, a seven-issue series from Image Comics. Six issues are out and the 7th drops on November 5th, with the trade due in February. Interior art is by Levens and letters by Crank. The covers, seen here, are by Joëlle Jones and Nick Filardi.
New Marvels retro teasers take us back to The Infinity Gauntlet and Old Man...
We missed yesterday's Marvel teaser campaign entry, and it was a good one. The Infinity Gauntlet, originally by Jim Starlin, and one of the cornerstones of modern comics continuity and readership.
And today's call out is Old Man Logan, by Mark Millar (him again!!!) and Steve McNiven, who draws this image. This one was revealed in a Tweet.

First Look: Dark Horse Announces Ethan Young’s Nanjing: The Burning City
Ethan Young is a cartoonist best known for his autobiographical webcomic Tails, but he's going to be coming out in a big way next August with NANJING: The Burning City, a full length historical comic to be published by Dark Horse. According to the publisher:
After the bombs fell and shook the walls of Nanjing, the Imperial Japanese Army entered and seized the Chinese capital. Through the dust of the demolished buildings, screams echo off the rubble. Two abandoned Chinese soldiers are trapped and desperately outnumbered inside the walled city. What they’ll encounter will haunt them. But in the face of horror, they’ll learn that resistance and bravery cannot be destroyed by the enemy.
Dark Horse provided a preview of the book, and it's in a rugged black and white style well suited to what sounds like a grim tale. Tails has a looser, more cartoony look, but this is a little Kubert, a little Tardi... Do you want to co-host DC All Access? Here’s how!
DC All Access is a webizode or whatever they call it, that has weekly features on DC comics and movies. It has hitherto featured two perky hosts, but evidently they need a new one, and IT COULD BE YOU as explained in the video below.
Any one can be considered for this role -- and here's how to showcase your brilliance:
31 Days of Halloween: Diamond’s Comicfest and Boom! Studos Halloween Frightfest
Comics biggest distributor Diamond has slowly been working to make Halloween a huge promotional day for comics shops, with special comics, contests and more. Let's face it, it doesn't take too much to get in the Halloween mood, and the promotion has been a big success. You can see a list of special Halloween comcis on the Halloween Comicfest website, such as this one spotlighting Boom! Studios spooky anthology with seasonal stories from Adventure Time, Fraggle Rock and more. This particular story features writing by Bryce Carlson and art by Frazer IRving in a VERY DIFFERENT Adventure Time story.
CRIMINAL is back at Image
Back at the first Image Expo this year it was announced that Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips were going exclusive with Image for their collections, and that means porting over CRiminal from Marvel's creator owned Icon line. And this month's solicitations reveal that not only is it coming back, but there will be a new one-shot, and newly designed editions, hitting in January.

Jim Lee and Dan Didio speak! About moving, demographics, royalties and more
I imagine that every sentence of this ICv2 interview with DC Comics co-publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee will be gone over with a fine tooth comb. I think it's the first time the two have sat down for a somewhat frank interview in six months at least. And what a six months it has been! Certainly, from the scrum of New York Comic Con, the essential public personas come out, Lee, the glass half full cheerleader, DiDio, the without me the glass would break authority figure. Lee addresses the new demographics with a shout out to Batman editor, Mark Doyle, whose future—at DC in Burbank or leaving the company— is still very much up in the air:
