Image Comics has revealed the Exquisite Corpses spin-off Fox Mask Killer will begin this fall. The five-issue series, by writer Che Grayson, artist Adam Gorham, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Becca Carey, will reveal the backstory of the titular assassin, who now wants out of the business. “And the only person who can offer her an opportunity to get away from her old life may be the devil herself…”

Grayson previously teamed up with Gorham on the fourth issue of the main Exquisite Corpses series, where Fox Mask Killer and Lady Carolina faced off. She says, “I gravitated instantly to Fox Mask Killer, a character whose design alone provoked a rich backstory and undeniable aura. The biggest treat for me as a writer was the challenge of bringing depth to a character whose face readers would never see… until now. With this new limited series, the mask finally comes off, and I couldn’t be more excited to team up again with my best mate Adam alongside stellar talents Jordie and Becca. This is a dream project for me.”

Gorham adds, “I’m thrilled about returning to the bloodthirsty world of Exquisite Corpses. The experience on Season One of the series was so fun and unique. My first issue, which brought Che and I together, focused on Fox Mask and Lady Carolina, and in the end it was clear to everyone involved that there was much more to explore with those characters. So here we are! Che and the ‘Onions’ have cracked a dynamite story filled with brutal action and razor sharp characters, and I have the great pleasure to draw it all.”

Fox Mask Killer was one of several Exquisite Corpses spin-offs announced earlier this year, with the first, Rascal Randy, set to begin on July 8. The first “season” of the main series has now wrapped up, with a trade paperback collecting issues ##9-13 set to arrive on August 19.

Issue #1 of Fox Mask’s series will be released on September 16, with covers by Gorham, Annie Wu, Ito, Mike Huddleston, Inhyuk Lee, and Exquisite Corpses co-creator Michael Walsh, which will be polybagged with an Exquisite Corpses: The Game card. Walsh will also provide an unrevealed Witchblade team-up variant to promote the Vampirella crossover. You can check out the revealed covers, and the full list below in the meantime.
