Towards the end of last year, Warner Bros. announced that an animated adaptation of the iconic Batman storyline “Knightfall” that saw the Dark Knight broken at the hands of Bane. Today the first Batman: Knightfall trailer was unveiled.
The voice cast of this Batman: Knightfall animated film includes Anson Mount as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Michael Mando as Bane, Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael. This isn’t Mount’s first time playing the Dark Night having previously voiced the character in the Injustice animated film a few years ago. Likewise, Mando is no stranger to comic book villains having played Mac Gargan aka The Scorpion in the MCU Spidey films. In fact, Mando is set to reprise the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day next month, so it’s definitely a big year for him.
It’s also worth noting, that the character designs do seem to lean into aesthetics of the iconic comic covers Kelley Jones drew for the Knightfall storyline.
The first part of a trilogy, Knightfall Part 1 premiered at the 2026 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and will be officially release later this year.
