I went through the old mailbag and found some newsy bits I had previously missed. Toys, books, shorts, variants, and the Cackler.
IDW starts publishing Disney Comics
IDW sort of hinted at this back at NYCC, when they announced an Artists Editions of the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa. At the retailer meeting, Dirk Wood said, in that special way of his, something along the lines of "There will be more coming from IDW and Disney." which at the time was a pretty clear indication there would be...more.
And so there is, and they mentioned it again in the fall but no one noticed. And now they just slyly let it out in the April Solicitations.

Reminder: Walt Disney was a sexist Jerk
Yeah yeah, Walt Disney was a genius and a trailblazer and a visionary...but he was also a racist and a horrible sexist. The letter informing a woman applying for a job at the studio informing her that "Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that work is performed entirely by young men. For this reason girls are not considered for the training school." has been floating around for years, but recently a newspaper story by Disney biographer Bob Thomas laying out his ideas of women's capabilities has been unearthed and it's even worse.

This thing is going on with a new publisher called Joe Books, and the credits on Boom! Studio's long ago (2010) Darkwing Duck series. Yes. The Outhouse has a succinct round-up but as best as I can make out, here's what happened:

Whoa, Guardians of the Galaxy…where to start. In a summer of unexceptional sequels and remakes, Marvel and Disney triumphed with a new creation that had a fresh take on the space opera genre, while introducing such comics elements as Thanos, Infinity Gems, and Rocket Raccoon. I never thought I would type that sentence outside of a fever dream.
