Debuting during this busy weekend for comics, the Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo drew favorable Tweets. Jessica at Uncovered Space has a nice little write-up with some pictures, including this one of Frank Santoro and Kevin Huizenga. From the photos, it looks like a nice, well-lit venue, always a plus. The Inkwell Awards for inking were handed out on Sunday at Wizard World New England in Boston, and Mark Morales won Favorite Inker. Klaus Janson and Al Williamson won the Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame awards. Complete winners in bold below.

The Birmingham Comics Expo was held this weekend, and if past events are any guide, participants should be waking up from their hangovers by Tuesday 9 am. Twitter reports were favorable; the big news seems to have been Jonathan Ross, who announced a new book with Tommy Lee Edwards (his TURF collaborator) called "The Golden Age."

A new event on the indie circuit is also taking this place, in Pittsburgh PA this weekend. PIX: The Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo , with Kevin Huizenga, Ed Piskor, Tom Scioli, and Frank Santoro among the guests.

This weekend, among a plethora of worldwide comics events, the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco is surely the premiere event for alt and indy comics. Headlined by Dan Clowes and Lynda Barry that's probably enough right there, but why stop -- other guests include Megan Kelso, Tony Millionaire, Renée French, Tommy Kovac, Rich Koslowski, and more. If it were less than a plane ride away, we'd be there in a heartbeat.

Another audio file of the first panel at the ICv2 digital comics conference. This one brought together almost all of the emerging industry's major players for a fascinating conversation. As opposed to previous panels where there seemed to be questions over whether this was even a viable business model, these are smart people doing smart business moves in a dynamic art form. This is where we're going.
