Cosmic Lighthouse has announced a Kickstarter for a graphic novel for The Murderbot Diaries, Martha Wells‘s award-winning sci-fi series that formed the basis of the Apple TV show Murderbot. The book will adapt the first entry from 2017, All Systems Red, and be scripted by Erica Schultz (Daredevil), with art by Gary Erskine (Dan Dare), colors by Yel Zamor, and lettering by Simon Bowland.
All Systems Red: The Graphic Novel will retell the story of a self-aware security android in a far future run by interstellar corporations, that secretly hacks itself to freedom, at the risk of being destroyed if anyone finds out. “It calls itself Murderbot, but all it actually wants is to be left alone to watch its favourite soap operas in peace.” At the time of writing, there have been eight novels, and four short stories.
The book marks the second project from Cosmic Lighthouse Comics, which launched last year with The Final Architecture prequel Salvation’s Child. The British publisher, founded by editors Paul Cornell and Lee Harris, specializes in adapting genre prose into graphic fiction.
The Kickstarter will launch on Thursday, October 15, ahead of the book’s mass retail release in 2028. Backers will be able to choose from covers by four different artists, including original series cover creator Jaime Jones. Season two of the TV show, which premiered in 2025, is also currently in the works, with new cast members set to include Steve Buscemi, Wanda Sykes, Patton Oswalt, Michael Sheen, Tramell Tillman, and many more.
