Dynamite has revealed new specials starring Red Sonja and Vampirella for the summer. Red Sonja Noir: The Plunder & The Princess, by David Avallone and Edson Novaes, is a follow-up to the writer and Edu Menna‘s one-shot from last year, putting Sonja in a more detective-like adventure than usual, while the Vampirella Summer Special 2026, by Erica Schultz and Adriana Melo, will find Vampi on a time-travel adventure.

“In her latest tale, Red Sonja travels to an exclusive wedding on the island of Zaralina, an enclave for the rich and wealthy merchant class. She’s not a mere guest, but has been hired for her prowess in protection. Events take a harrowing turn for the dark and nefarious when an army of masked bandits, a powerful wizard, and a massive fearsome dragon crash the reception!”

“Even immortal vampires (or is she an alien? both!) need a little bit of time off for rest and relaxation. Diehard fans know too that Drakulonians do not share the weakness to sunlight that traditional undead vampires do, so she’s totally clear to hit the beach. But despite being shore-compatible, other parts of Vampirella’s life inevitably lead to complications in even the best planned vacation getaways!
Suddenly in ‘Rising from the Ashes’ the raven-haired, sharp-toothed antiheroine finds herself a whopping 2,000 years in the past. Immediately up to her eyes in drama – instead of the surf she was relishing – it’ll only get even crazier when the nearby volcano starts rumbling and is certainly not dormant. Vampi was looking for an island getaway, and she’s getting more than she bargained for!”

Additionally, Dynamite announced its second Compact Edition release will be of its first Red Sonja series from 2005, by Michael Avon Oeming, Mike Carey, Mel Rubi, and Richard Isanove. She-Devil With a Sword, a 200-page, 5.5 by 8.5 inch release, will reprint Red Sonja #0 and the creative team’s first two arcs, for just $9.99, when it releases this July.
Red Sonja Noir: The Plunder & The Princess does not have a specific release month yet, while the Vampirella Summer Special will be released in July. You can check out preview pages and additional covers for both books below. (Blind bag exclusives will also be available.) In the meantime, Christopher Priest and Lucio Parrillo‘s relaunch of Vampirella will begin on April 22; Rory McConville and Pablo de Bonis‘s Red Sonja run will start on May 6; and Avallone and Mariano Benitez-Chapo‘s new series, Altered States: Warlords, featuring both characters, will launch on June 10.
