Following last month’s announcement that the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League will be completed and released on HBO Max next year, the director has released a teaser video for the project. On Twitter this morning, Snyder tweeted what he called a “first ever sneak peek” at the film, and promised more to come at August’s recently-announced DC FanDome event.

The footage, a short thirty-second clip, features Gal Gadot‘s Diana/Wonder Woman looking by torchlight at what appears to be an ancient rendering of Darkseid, followed by a look presumably at Apokolips and Darkseid himself. The scene plays under voiceover from Jesse Eisenberg‘s Lex Luthor, taken from his final scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

There’s not a ton to unpack here — it’s long been teased that Darkseid would have appeared in some form in the Snyder cut of Justice League had the director not stepped away from the project and been replaced by Joss Whedon. But for people who’ve been hoping for years to see Snyder’s version of the film released, this is surely more than enough to whet their appetites.

Announced earlier this week, the DC FanDome event is an online event that will focus on the various media properties based on the characters of the DC Universe. The inaugural edition of the 24-hour event kicks off on August 22nd, and will feature different ‘Verses’ that fans can visit to get a look at the different aspects of the DCU. For a new event looking to make a big splash, rolling out more footage and details for the highly-anticipated Snyder Cut of Justice League is the perfect way to do just that.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set for release on HBO Max in 2021.
