Giant monster fans are eating well as of late. The newest Godzilla movie, Godzilla Minus One, is getting rave reviews (including here at The Beat), Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has brought Legendary’s Monsterverse to TV screens, and the latest trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire promises an even bigger meeting for the two than the first film. Comics fans aren’t going hungry, either, as two issues of Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong have hit stands, with writer Brian Buccelatto and artist Christian Duce pitting the heroes of the DC Universe so far against Godzilla and other kaiju. Now DC has announced that those two issues are sold out, and will return to stores in a new, “Monster-Sized” Edition that will include both issues in one package, and sport a new cover by Mikel Janin.
Is it really “Monster-Sized” if it’s not at least Treasury-sized, though? I get that it’s thicker, but otherwise it’s just a normal-sized comic. I’m just saying, if Godzilla picked up this comic, it’d still be too small for him, so let’s get one that’s just a little bigger. Kong could probably make this work if he wore his glasses.
The new reprint is the latest entry in DC and Legendary’s push for the crossover series. The first issue of the series is also available in two different ‘roar’ editions, which include soundchips that play the roars of Godzilla and Kong when you open the issue’s cover. The Beat got our hands on these two editions, and as far as variants go they’re among the more fun novelties.
The Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong Monster-Sized Edition #1 is due out in stores on Tuesday, January 16th. Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong #3 is out on December 19th, so pick that one up and then hold onto it until you can read the reprint in January.
