Omnibus, a new digital comics store and reader, has announced that they are partnering with IDW Publishing to bring their library, as well as Top Shelf‘s, to the platform. At time of writing, this begins with over 300 titles, ranging from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Star Trek and more.

Omnibus x IDW

Omnibus, as with many digital comics readers, launched toward the beginning of 2023, with the goal of filling the void left behind when Amazon announced the closure of comiXology last year (which, just this week, officially died). The app has taken its time to launch, gradually building up its library with publishers and releasing new features when the team feels comfortable with their usability.

“We are excited to partner with Omnibus and their new digital reading app,” said Tara McCrillis, co-publisher at IDW. “We believe the hole ComiXology is leaving in the market is going to be filled with innovators like the Omnibus team. Our goal is to allow our fans to have access to our content in as many places as possible.”

Travis Schmeisser, a co-founder of the app, also spoke on the announcement:

“We’re excited to carry IDW’s killer stable of classics and new hits alike. Readers across the world will be able to enjoy amazing titles like THE LAST RONIN and the Eisner-nominated STAR TREK series on Omnibus’ best-in-class digital reader and store. These are must-have books in everyone’s collection!”

Other publishers that have signed on to release titles through Omnibus include AHOY, Image, Dark Horse, BOOM!, Humanoids, Silver Sprocket, and more. A full list is available at omnibus.app. While the app is currently unavailable on iPhones and Android devices, it is available to peruse on the web at omnibus.app, as well as on iPads.

Stay tuned in the coming months for more publisher announcements, as well a full review of the service once it is completely released.
