Actually not so mysterious; it is just cool. John Shableski shares this photo he took while touring the Penn State campus.
The guy in the picture is John Meier a librarian at PSU. He’s also one of the steering committee members for the Lynd Ward Graphic Novel Prize.
As we’ve written here a few times, one of the weird memories of our youth is seeing a giant Charles Addams mural in the vestibule of a crappy apartment building on 59th and Madison; never explained. Were these murals just like faerie circles that sprang up magically after the rain?
The building was torn down years ago…wonder what ever happened to the mural?
Reminds me of the time I went into a random Mexican place in Eastern Connecticut only to find a giant Curt Swan Superman marker doodle on the wall behind my table.
That’s actually really freaking cool. I’d love to think it’s sitting in somebody’s living room or something.
This mural was also rescued, from “The Dune Deck” in the Hamptons (the building in the background).
