Back in March it was announced that actor Jordan Fisher would be joining The CW’s The Flash in the role of Bart Allen, the speedster hero known as Impulse. Today the network released a first-look photo at Fisher as Impulse.

The image appears to be an homage to artwork by Howard Porter and HiFi from The Flash #50, in which Bart officially returned to the DC Universe post-The New 52.

Fisher’s suit is fairly comic-accurate, with a few alterations to the boots and gloves. The mask on the suit looks more like Bart’s Young Justice animated series gear than the classic goggles of the comic Impulse.

On the CW series, Fisher’s Bart Allen will reportedly be the future son of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candace Patton). Created by Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo and first appearing in full in 1994’s The Flash #92, the comics version of Bart Allen is the grandson of Barry and Iris. Raised in a virtual reality simulation in the 30th Century, Bart was brought back to the present by Iris, who was seeking help for her grandson from her nephew, Flash Wally West, to stop Bart’s accelerated aging due to his superspeed. Lots of those details will surely be different on the CW series, though.

The first look at Impulse arrives a few weeks after it was revealed that actress Jessica Parker Kennedy will be returning to The Flash as Barry and Iris’s previously-established daughter, Nora Allen, aka XS. Kennedy will return for the CW series’ 150th episode, which will also see the arrival of Fisher’s Impulse.

The Flash airs on Tuesdays at 8PM on The CW.
