There’s a new speedster coming to Central City. Actor Jordan Fisher has been cast as Bart Allen, aka Impulse, on The CW’s The Flash series. According to reports Fisher will appear in a guest-starring role that coincides with the 150th episode of the Arrowverse TV series.

On the CW series, Fisher’s Bart Allen will reportedly be the future son of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candace Patton). Created by Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo and first appearing in full in 1994’s The Flash #92, the comics version of Bart Allen is the grandson of Barry and Iris. Raised in a virtual reality simulation in the 30th Century, Bart was brought back to the present by Iris, who was seeking help for her grandson from her nephew, Flash Wally West, to stop Bart’s accelerated aging due to his superspeed. Lots of those details will surely be different on the CW series, though.

On Twitter, Fisher expressed his excitement at joining The Flash:

The arrival of Bart Allen won’t be the first time that Barry and Iris have had to contend with a child of theirs from the future. The fifth season of the CW series saw the arrival of Nora Allen, the couple’s adult daughter played by Jessica Parker Kennedy. That season ended in tragedy, though, as Nora was erased from the timeline by the machinations of Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanaugh).

Fisher has previously appeared on TV series like Teen WolfBones, and the animated She-Ra and the Princesses of Power series. Fisher has also appeared on Broadway in Hamilton as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, and in the lead role in Dear Evan Hansen, making him the first biracial actor to play the role.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights at 8PM on The CW. Look for Fisher’s Bart Allen to make his debut on the series later this year.

  1. So Flash is turning into a show where everyone runs fast, just like Arrow became a show where everyone shoots arrows. So creative…yawn.
