Four years after losing the license to publish Star Wars comics, Dark Horse is returning to a galaxy far, far away. The publisher will release The Art of Star Wars: Rebels, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the recently-concluded animated series, later this year.
Originally aired on Disney XD, Star Wars: Rebels took place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The series aired for four seasons, and charted the formation of the Rebel Alliance from the perspective of the crew of a ship called the Ghost. Along the way the series picked up and resolved dangling plot threads from previous animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars; reintroduced expanded universe characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn to the new Star Wars canon; and debuted new characters like Saw Guerrera, who would go on to appear in Rogue One.
The Art of Star Wars: Rebels will be Dark Horse’s first Star Wars-themed art book. They’ve previously produced art books for video games like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, as well as for animated series like The Venture Bros. and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Check out the full press release announcing the book below. The Art of Star Wars: Rebels will retail for $39.99, and goes on sale on October 1st.
