Okay so Image has been teasing team members of a new super team book from the last few days—smart money says Jay Faerber may be involved—and just for reference, it's shaping up to be quite a team of misfits and characters!

Magnetic Press to publish Daomu graphic novel

3
Magnetic Press launched earlier this year bringing some top-notch French comics to the US market and they're not only still here, they are expanding to Chinese comics with DAOMU, which adapts the popular novel series by Chinese author Xu “Kennedy” Lei, who's knwn as China's Stephen King.  How popular is this series? The first novel, which forms the basis of the graphic novel has sold three million copies as of 2010 with an additional 20 million copies on the black market. I didn't know there was a lack market for novels but it's a thrilling world.

Advance Review: SUPERIOR IRON MAN #1 has a god complex

2
As humongous and "earth shattering" as event comics can be they usually aren't the endgame a publisher has in mind. The payoff usually lies in what comes after, whether it's in the form of another event or a new series. Unfortunately for Marvel the pattern that's developed is a stale event followed by a great series; one example that comes to mind was Dark Avengers coming after the Secret Invasion event. Marvel's latest case, AXIS, while convoluted at times, has set the stage for Tom Taylor to play on the other side of the big two field with Superior Iron Man.

But access to what? It's just been announced that Dynamite is the first company Top 10 publisher to sign up with them. You don't get everything, but some good starter stuff:

You know how sometimes people "Float an idea"? Well I think this idea is floating in a little leaky toy boat that will soon sink to the bottom of nightmare pool. According to Latino Review the Sony movie folks are now so flummoxed about what to do with the Spider-Man franchise that they are thinking about making a solo Aunt May movie. Now your first thought on this would be, "Oh like The Whales of August or Philomena? Well Helen Mirren and Judi Dench are always looking for good roles." But the idea is young Aunt May as...a spy?

Kaboom Test Labs: The case of the dissappearing comics shop

4
We've been talking about how the comics industry is doing well, and people seem to be making good on their business plans. But there are still cautionary tales. One such tale is Kaboom Test Labs, a two store cain located in Albuquerque, NM that abruptly closed shop this weekend. The main site has only a note that the owners were leaving New Mexico; a Facebook page where disappointed customers wondered what happened has been removed.

Marvel.com salutes Jack Kirby on Veterans Day

This photo was posted on Marvel.com in a piece commemorating Veteran's Day. Obviously there is no one in comics more suitable for this kind of salute than Kirby who would tell his war stories to all. And

Must read: David Harper analyzes the changing state of the industry

9
Out with the old, in with the new? As we've been reporting, October comics sales were pretty damn massive. It's the culmination of a year that started a little rocky but has blossomed as new trends blew into town behind a strong trade wind.
