Lightning doesn’t strike twice with Future’s End
September is Big Event month at DC Comics, and they crushed it this September as they usually do with their super lenticular covered Future's End event which saw stand-alone stories set five years in the future of the DCU. These "random future" events usually disappoint me as I expect to see the Flash living with is brother in law and their two kids, and Poison Ivy running a plant shop, but then, that's me. Anyway, Multiversity talked to a bunch of retailers about how the event did compared to last year's Villain's month which was allocated and ignited a frenzy as they say. Most retailers I've talked to say it was okay but not great and the Multiversity survey yielded similar thoughts. It is a sad time when a Batman butt selfie only does okay but these are the times we live in.
NYCC ’14: Comixology announces panels and party
Although they've gone Amazon on us, Comixology is still hanging out with comics folks, and doing a fine job of it. Although it hasn't been as widely announced as it was last year, when you register your badge at NYCC you get some free digital comics from Comixology. And they've announced a bunch of panels and a party Saturday night so-sponsored by Dynamite, benefitting the CBLDF. Here is the poop:

Is Norman Reedus Killing Comic-Con?
I know you thought the "con kerfuffle" had faded away, but I think it's definitely an ongoing burning issue for the industry, in a rapidly evolving field, and Chris Butcher, retailer and a show runner himself for TCAF, as well as booth runner for Udon, has posted a brilliant summation that puts all the eggs in one basket and then hits that basket out of the park:
Butcher identifies several trends, which I'll list for argument:
Seth’s Dominion documentary is showing in Montreal
A film has been made about Seth, the single named Autuer of Clyde Fans, It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken, Palookaville, and countless illustrations. It's called Seth's Dominion, it's directed by Luc Chamberland and it is described as "a hybrid documentary/animation film exploring the life of master cartoonist Seth."
Given that Seth is a perfectionist, you'd expect no less of a film about him, so to no one's surprise the film has won the Grand Prize for Best Animated Feature at this year's Ottawa International Animation Festival.
