Marvel wins again in January as Spider-Man and Fables top the charts
Diamond has released their preliminary top 10 and comparative charts for January, and it was another good month for Marvel and comics overall. Although periodical sales were down a bit from last month, GNs were up quite a bit — perhaps oddly given the Christmas sales season. Both periodical and graphic novels were up in strong doubles digits from January 2012, however, showing that the comic book recovery is well under way, no matter what you thing of creative shuffles.

Announcing the Pantone Color of the Year: Emerald!
As a hushed world waited with bated breath, the waiting is over: Pantone has announced their Color of the Year. And it's Emerald, aka Pantone 17-5641 TCX. Reviewers hailed the move, saying ""Lively. Radiant. Lush… A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."
Peter David update: He’s coming home early
Good news from Peter David, the popular writer who had a stroke while vacationing at Disneyland. Because of the incredibly unfortunate timing (not that there is ever a good time to have a stroke) he has been rehabbing in a Florida treatment center, far from his New York home. Wife Kathleen has been updating everyone on his progress and David has been using Dragon Dictation to post to his blog and keep up with work. He's been making good progress, and now some very good news.:
On the scene: Amazing Arizona Comic Con kicks off 2013 on the right foot
The only cons I like better then ones that I can ride my bicycle to are cons that only take an hour and a half drive. Sometimes the commute is intimidating and it's much easier to just stay home. Amazing Arizona Comic Con gave me too many reasons to not miss this event.
