Good news from Peter David, the popular writer who had a stroke while vacationing at Disney World. Because of the incredibly unfortunate timing (not that there is ever a good time to have a stroke) he has been rehabbing in a Florida treatment center, far from his New York home. Wife Kathleen has been updating everyone on his progress and David has been using Dragon Dictation to post to his blog and keep up with work. He’s been making good progress, and now some very good news:

I am happy to report that the folks here at Brooks are so satisfied with my progress that they’re sending me home early. I was originally scheduled to leave on February 15, but I’ve been blowing through the program so quickly that they feel comfortable with sending me home a week early. The downside of this is that Kathleen suddenly has barely a week to prepare everything for my return. And since she’s in the midst of having major neck pains, it’s not going to be an easy endeavor for her. I have every confidence in her, however, that she’ll be able to do it.

While David was insured, his medical bills are high. The Davids have suggested people who would like to help out do so the best way — by purchasing some of his books. That link will guide you to his ebook store, the fastest, most direct way for him to get the money.

  1. It was actually DisneyWorld, not Land since he was in sunny Florida. Great news though, congrats to Peter and his whole family and best wishes on a continued speedy recovery.

  2. Glad to hear PAD is making a quick recovery. I hope his recovery continues to be quick and I hope he makes a full recovery.
