Speaking of comic books and comic book movies, we're guessing you haven't heard about this one: Alena, a Swedish film about a high school girl who gets transferred to a new school and gets bullied. Payback and lacrosse ensue, with perhaps a bit f supernatural horror. The film originated as made-for-TV movie but has been expanded for international release, a well received US debut at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.

Dark Horse to publish Gaiman stories with Doran, Bá, and Moon

Dark Horse is expanding its series of comics adaptations of short stories by Neil Gaiman with two new titles in 2016. Gabriel Moon and Fabio Bá will adapt "How to Talk to Girls at Parties" and Colleen Doran does "Troll Bridge". Dark Horse will also re-release Creatures of the Night and The Facts in the Case of the Departure of Miss Finch, which were previously adapted by Michael Zulli.

Canadian literary treasure Margaret Atwood has been toying with comics for a while, showing up at conventions and expressing her interest in the form. And now she's taken the plunge! With a band new graphic novel, Angel Catbird, which will be illustrated bu Johnnie Christmas (Sheltered). The book is the first in a trio of all-ages (!) graphic novel that tell the story of "an unusual superhero. The first book comes out in fall of 2016, published in conjunction with Keep Cats Safe and Save Bird Lives, a charity led by conservation group Nature Canada.
