Dark Horse Comics has announced Stranger Things: Six, a four-issue tie-in series to the hit Netflix TV series. Written by Jody Houser and illustrated by Edgar Salazar, Keith Champagne, and Triona Farrell, the miniseries is a prequel to the show and introduces Six, a precognitive child who was subject to the same experiments as series star Eleven.
With a name like ‘Eleven,’ we had to know the preceding ten test subjects would eventually put in appearances. Season 2 of Stranger Things introduced one of them, a girl named Kali who had formerly been called ‘Eight,’ whom Eleven met after following a series of psychic visions. Here’s how the publisher describes the series:
Stranger Things: SIX follows Francine, a teenage girl with precognition. She’s struggled through a lifetime of exploitation: first by her parents, then by Dr. Brenner of Hawkins Laboratory. Dr. Brenner wants to harness her powers as well as those of the other gifted children that they hold captive at the lab. Wracked by increasingly disturbing visions, she sees an opportunity to change her life. But at what cost?
This latest miniseries looks to fill in some backstory gaps for the program that created Eleven. The previous miniseries, also written by Houser and featuring art by Stefano Martino, Champagne, and Lauren Affe, served a similar purpose, revealing what happened to Will Byers while he was trapped in the Upside-Down during the show’s first season.
