Dungeons & Dragons has been a huge part of Stranger Things, with Lucas, Mike, Will, and Dustin consistently continuing their adventure in Mike’s basement throughout the series. Now thanks to IDW Publishing and Dark Horse Comics, their roleplaying game sessions come to life in Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons.

Announced yesterday on D&D Live, Jim Zub (Champions, Wayward) and Jody Houser (Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy) are co-writing the four-issue mini-series. Artist Diego Galindo (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Shattered Grid) and colorist Michele Assarasakorn (ISOLA) are on art and Nate Piekos takes on letters.

The story shows how the tabletop roleplaying game influences and strengthens the bond between the four main characters. According to Zub on his website, “This story is filled with adventure, heart and a few supernatural surprises.”

Zub continued, “Deep-diving into research on first edition D&D and working on this series with our team has been so much fun. Fans of the hit Netflix series and gamers new and old will find a lot to love here. Look for more details and preview art coming soon.”

So far, only the cover has been released, which shows each of the guys dressed as their D&D counterparts. Mike is a paladin, Will is a Wizard, Lucas is a ranger, and Dustin is a bard.

Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons #1 is slated to release on November 4, 2020.

  1. Besides a crossover with Quantum Leap or Time Cop would be more fitting and appropriate (albeit a little derivative).Time travel and extra-dimensional monsters?
