Skybound Entertainment, the Robert Kirkman-founded producer of comics, television, and games, has announced a virtual comic con in celebration of the company’s tenth anniversary. THR reports that Skybound Xpo will be held in mid-July, and will be available for fans to enjoy streaming on Facebook and YouTube.
Among the events at the virtual con will be a Kirkman-centered panel spotlighting he and artist Chris Samnee‘s new series, Fire Power (the prelude graphic novel for which lands in comic shops today). Another panel will cover the big moments from Skybound’s ten years of operation, while another will feature trivia about Skybound properties and the company itself.
Though smaller in scale, Skybound Xpo sounds very similar to another recently-announced virtual con, DC’s FanDome, a Warner Brothers-hosted event that will spotlight the various media properties under the DC Comics banner. With the annual San Diego Comic Con having moved online due to the still-ongoing pandemic, it makes sense that smaller events like these would pop up so companies can continue to showcase their future offerings. Will other publishers and content producers follow suit?
Skybound Xpo is scheduled for July 18th and 19th.
