Image Comic has announced its Summer 2026 Select Retailer Award Winner at San Diego Comic-Con 2026: Capitol Comics in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“We are beyond ecstatic, and absolutely honored to receive this recognition from Image Comics,” said the Capitol Comics team in a joint statement. “We have enjoyed servicing our comic community in Raleigh and greater North Carolina for the past 40 years, and look forward to many more.
“To our local community of regular and new customers; our online communities on Facebook, Instagram, and Whatnot; and our customers, friends, show vendors, and fellow shop owners; thank YOU for the support and the camaraderie you give us in this industry,” they continued. “We look forward to new firsts for our company yet-to-come next year, and to continuing to support Image Comics, a true ‘House of Ideas,’ and a launchpad for so many wonderful literary and artistic creations.”

The Image Select Retailer Award recognizes Direct Market retailers that go above and beyond to build relationships with customers and expand comics readership to help foster a healthier marketplace. The award is given out quarterly to shops nominated by fans, based on criteria including atmosphere, customer service, recommendations, display quality, ease of browsing, community engagement, support for indie comics, and more.
Capitol Comics joins retailers around the world who have been recognized by Image through this award program, and will receive a commemorative medallion for display, a spotlight Q&A to be featured on Image social media and website, and its choice of an exclusive Image Select Retailer Award variant cover with the store logo (limited to 250 copies).
Previous winners of the Image Select Retailer Award include ATOM Comics in Poland; Acme Comics in Greensboro, North Carolina; Comics Etc. in Australia; Nirvana Comics in Knoxville, Tennessee; Hall of Justice Comics in Parker, Colorado; Peebles Comics & Games in Scotland; and Four Color Fantasies in Winchester, Virginia.
