The judges have spoken! Denis Kitchen, Oscar Valiente, Tula Lotay, Diamond Comic Distributors VP of Retailer Services Chris Powell, and German Puig selected the six finalists for the 2019 Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award and the nominees were announced on Thursday, the official start of the 50th annual San Diego Comic-Con International. Valiente and Puig are from Norma Comics in Barcelona, Spain, last year’s Spirit Award recipients.
The 2019 Eisner Awards will be announced Friday, July 19 Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel. Check out the six Spirit of Comics Retailer nominees below and stay tuned for The Beat‘s award show coverage, live from SDCC.

In case you missed it, the rest of the nominees were announced in late April, with Image and DC leading the pack.
If I had a vote it would go to Katie Proctor and Books With Pictures. She is amazingly cool and doing wonderful things to engage the community with comics. Despite having worked for and knowing the owners of other great shops in Portland, BWP has been the only one I buy from since it opened. And the new location is fantastic!
