Legendary Pictures has gone kaiju-crazy. With a Godzilla remake in the works, for ComicCon they’ve set up The Godzilla Experience, an interactive environment and brief adventure which will have you imagining what it’s like to flee a giant monster. None of the imagery is based on the NEW Godzilla, but for fans of the old one it’s enough to bring a tear to your eye with an original prop from the 1954 original, an actual costume from Godzilla Millenium, a DNA swirl of the existing comics, a Tokyo street scene set up rich in detail and a swirling double helix made from Godzilla comics. FUN! Download the Godzilla Experience app and there are Easter Eggs to get more content.
To get in you must pick up a ticket from the Legendary booth and then go to J and Tony Gwynn way. Look for the building with the monster damage, and get in line. For fans of old Radioactive Breath, it’s a must do.
If you were as impressed as I was by the set-up, here’s an interview with head design man Barnaby Legg. For all our joking around the amount of hard work and imagination that goes into these “Brigadoon style” exhibits is amazing sometimes.
My two kaiju-crazy sons would love this! Too bad we’re in FL!
ComicBase founder Pete Bickford and I went through the experience earlier today. It was a lot of fun and well worth the time away from the convention floor.
I love Godzilla!! I am jealous that you were there, not me….but loving the pictures you brought back!!! I’m Super-Hyped for the Godzilla 2014 movie! Also, I’ve completely enjoyed all the Godzilla titles since IDW took over the franchise a few years ago……
