It’s been a long pandemic and if you’re like The Beat, one of the things keeping you going was all the cool MCU movies coming out – whether puzzling Ikea catalog vistas like Eternals, or tonally inconsistent horror drops like Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness . And the cherry on top: the return of Taika Waititi to the MCU with THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER, opening on July 8th.

Each trailer has whetted our appetite more for the unique brand of Kirby-esque epic fantasy and tongue in cheek drollery that made Thor: Ragnarok our all time favorite MCU film.

Today, Disney has released a series of character posters that spotlight the only thing that matters: Jane Foster’s guns. Oh yes and also Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Christain Bale as Garr the God Butcher, some CGI as Korg, and two goats. Because we need goats.

Disney also released this Dolby exclusive poster which is appallingly wonderful.

Done in the style one might find at a self-help expo run by Bard College grads , or a painting that someone well acquainted with ayahuasca did after finding a long forgotten airbrush in the back of their van,  the poster definitely fits right in with the movie’s kitschy 70s vibe. The it is so effective that one group of friends on FB are going on and on about what a horrible poster it is.

Thor: Love and Thunder opens on July 8th and according to the logline:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – one of self-discovery. But his efforts are interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. Directed by Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “Jojo Rabbit”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, “Thor: Love and Thunder” opens in U.S. theaters July 8, 2022.

Are you going to see THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER? How many times? Do you like goats? Do you like Russell Crowe? Let us know in the comments! And don’t flick anything too hard in the meantime.
