Writer Cullen Bunn is launching yet another horror comic, Unearth, a collaboration with artists Kyle Strahm and Baldemar Rivas.
The new creator-owned comic Unearth is due in July from Image. It’s story involves a flesh-warping disease striking a remove village in Mexico. From there, the book follows a scientific task force sent to investigate. Eventually, the team encounters a hostile ecosystem and, via the press release, “a supernatural revelation from which they may never escape.”
The publisher bills the book as “The X-Files meets Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation with the mounting terror” of classic Stephen King. That’s a lot. But the preview art looks fantastic and Bunn has more than proven himself as one of the industry’s most capable and prolific purveyors of modern horror. He’s literally penned the genre for publishers ranging from Archie to AfterShock.
More specifics along with preview art follow:
Unearth #1 Cover A by Rivas (Diamond Code MAY190025) and Unearth #1 Cover B by Strahm (Diamond Code MAY190026) will hit comic shops on Wednesday, July 10. The final order cutoff for comic shop retailers is Monday, June 17.
Unearth will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
