The list of finalists for the Locus Awards 2022 were announced this week, and author Nnedi Okorafor is a finalist in four categories, including Illustrated and Art Book for John Jennings and David Brame‘s Megascope graphic novel adaptation of Okorafor’s After the Rain.

Okorafor’s Locus Awards 2022 finalist nominations are in Best Science Fiction Novel (Noor), Best Novella (Remote Control), Best Novelette (The Black Pages), and Best Illustrated and Art Book (for John Jennings and David Brame’s After the Rain, an adaptation of Okorafor’s short story On the Road).

After the Rain is the debut book from John Jennings’ new Megascope imprint at Abrams and the Locus Awards 2022 finalist nomination will help give the publishing line that extra little bit of clout.

John Jennings and David Brame aren’t the only comics to make it into the Illustrated and Art Book Category at Locus Awards 2022. David Bowles and Raúl the Third‘s Clockwork Curandera Volume 1: The Witch Owl Parliament (Tu Books); Fido Nesti‘s adaptation of George Orwell‘s 1984 (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt); and Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Lisa Sterle’s YA feminist thriller Squad (Harper Alley/Greenwillow) also join it.

Also of interest in the finalists for Locus Awards 2022 Illustrated and Art Book category are Simon Stålenhag‘s illustrated story The Labyrinth, which was published by Image Comics, and Charles Vess‘ The Art of Neil Gaiman & Charles Vess’s Stardust, from Titan.
