Today, Marvel Comics announced that it had signed Kelly Thompson, the current writer of the ongoing Hawkeye series, and last year’s Star Wars: Captain Phasma limited series, to an exclusive contract.

As per the press release, Thompson commented on her signing:

“Marvel was truly my first love. So to be here today, not only writing for Marvel but ‘going exclusive’ with them, is the definition of a dream come true. I remember visiting Disney World as a teen and being so consumed by an issue of X-Men that was due to come out that I was checking newsstands like a girl possessed until I located it. So yeah, this is everything I always wanted.”

Thompson has been writing for Marvel since 2015. Outside the House of Ideas she has made a name for herself on licensed titles including Jem and the Holograms and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink. She joins a roster other exclusive writers including Ed Brisson and Matthew Rosenberg.

Currently, in addition to Hawkeye, Thompson is writing the mini-series Rogue & Gambit with artist Pere Perez. Hawkeye will end in March, but according to the release, she has more projects in the pipeline that will be revealed on the road to San Diego Comic Con this year.
