Next week AHOY Comics will release Highball #2. The second issue of the sci-fi comedy series comes from writer Stuart Moore, artist Fred Harper, colorist Lee Loughridge, and letterer Rob Steen. The series follows the titular Highball, ace Star Corp pilot and highly functional alcoholic, who is only able to swoop in and save the day when he’s completely sh*tfaced. Today The Beat is pleased to present a preview of the upcoming next issue of the series, which finds our hero still haunted by his encounter last issue with Shhh’kkk’reeeeeeeee of the Q’k’q’rr’kkk.

Here’s how AHOY describes Highball #2:

Highball and his fellow space pilots travel to the sanctum of the Mentok, alien rulers of humanity, where they learn… nothing, as usual. They just blow a bunch of stuff up! Plus, the mystery of the captain deepens. Wait, is that even a thing? I can’t remember.

As with all AHOY Comics offerings, Highball #2 includes material beyond the main feature from Moore, Harper, and friends. Also included in the issue are a few new “Duffeeee” strips from cartoonist Chris Duffy, as well as two prose stories, “Life in the Chute” by Kirk Vanderbeek, with an illustration by Peter Bagge, and “The Voice of AHOY” by Hanna Bahedry, with an illustration from an 1881 issue of Harper’s New Monthly Magazine by an unknown artist.

Check out the five-page preview of Highball #2 below. The issue is due out in stores and digitally next Wednesday, October 12th.
